Poulenc Gloria
Dukas The Sorcerer’s Apprentice
The twentieth-century French composer Francis Poulenc has been characterized as half monk, half “bad boy,” equally at home in the cathedral service and the cabaret show. These two worlds collide in his colorful setting of the Gloria, performed with the Huntsville Community Chorus and Huntsville-based soprano Kristine Biller. Tonight’s program belongs to Paris altogether, really – including the beloved tone-poem The Sorcerer’s Apprentice by Paul Dukas, made famous in Walt Disney’s Fantasia.

Kristine Biller, soprano
Soprano Kristine Biller has performed with leading opera companies and symphonies across the U.S., including Lincoln Center, Michigan Opera Theatre, and Philadelphia Opera. She’s been praised for her “smoky depths with bell-like highs” and has brought powerful roles to life in Carmen, La Bohème, and Margaret Garner, where she shared the stage with Denyce Graves. A favorite career moment? Performing The Grand Duchess of Gerolstein as Wanda alongside the legendary mezzo-soprano Stephanie Blythe in the title role. Kristine holds a Master of Music from Indiana University, where she was awarded a full scholarship and sang five leading operatic roles.
