The Huntsville Symphony Orchestra Symphony School is proud to offer Adult Strings lessons for musicians of all skill levels! Whether you’re a beginner or picking up where you left off from previous music lessons, these classes are a wonderful way of investing in yourself and spending time with others who share your passion for music. Each of these classes is taught by the Symphony School’s professional instructors. The class environment is laidback, friendly, and fun, while focusing on high-quality instruction.

Adult String Classes – Summer 2022

  • Classes are scheduled to begin on Monday, June 20, 2022.
  • The Summer concert is Tuesday, July 19, 2022 at The Cooper House at 405 Randolph Avenue, Huntsville, 7:00 p.m.
  • Beginner, Intermediate and Advanced adult classes will be held at The Cooper House at 405 Randolph Avenue, Huntsville.
  • Participants must provide instruments.

Fee: $100

Class Dates:
June 20
June 27
July 11
July 18
July 19 (concert)

Beginner Class: 5:00-6:00 p.m.
Combined Intermediate and Advanced Class: 6:00-7:30 p.m.

This session is a condensed version of our Fall and Spring Adult String Classes. 

Please note:
Your health and safety are very important to us. In order to keep everyone safe during the COVID-19 pandemic, socially distancing protocols will be implemented and masks required to be worn over the nose and mouth at all times during each class and at the Spring concert.


About the Faculty

Charles Hogue is a native of New Mexico, studied at the Mannes College of Music with Paul Doctor and with Li-kuo Chang while playing in the Civic Orchestra of Chicago. Before moving to Huntsville, he was a member of the El Paso Symphony and other orchestras in the southwest. He is currently the Principal Violist of the Huntsville Symphony Orchestra and maintains a large private studio.

Bethany Wing is a violin and viola teacher in Madison, Alabama. She also instructs Novice Strings with the Huntsville Youth Orchestra. She has a BMUS in Music Education from the University of Georgia and an MA in Curriculum and Instruction from Tennessee Tech University.
