The Strauss family name is synonymous with the Viennese waltz. So, Richard Strauss, the great genius of late Romanticism (from an unrelated clan), joined the dance when he paid tribute to the grand ballroom with the sumptuous waltzes in his opera Der Rosenkavalier. Tonight, it is truly All About Strauss as we enjoy selections by both Johann and Richard, including the latter’s heartrending Metamorphosen for string orchestra.
