Michael Rittling, Principal Bass
Michael Rittling received Bachelor degrees in Music and Music Education from the Florida State University in 2006. Next, Michael attended Indiana University and completed a Master’s of Music degree in 2008 and a Performer Diploma in 2009. Throughout his education, Michael studied under Lawrence Hurst, Melanie Punter, Jeff Turner, Peter Lloyd, and Dr. Michael Allen. During his summers, Michael has attended numerous festivals including the National Repertory Orchestra, Brevard Music Center, and Sewannee Summer Music Festival.
Michael joined the bass section of the Huntsville Symphony Orchestra in March 2009, and served as principal since 2011. He also currently holds a section position with the Maryland Symphony Orchestra in Hagerstown, MD. Michael has also performed with the National Philharmonic, Tallahassee Symphony Orchestra, West Virginia Symphony, as well as many regional orchestras throughout Florida, Georgia, and Indiana. Currently, Michael is a resident of the Baltimore / Washington, DC area and is an active free-lance bassist.
