Young Peoples Concerts
Registration is now open for the 2013 Young People's Concerts.

The Huntsville Symphony Orchestra in conjunction with the Huntsville Symphony Orchestra Guild present the annual Young People's concert series to over 7,000 area fourth-graders, allowing them to explore a true symphony concert programmed just for them at no cost.

Music Director and Conductor Gregory Vajda will lead the orchestra in the Overture to Mozart's The Magic Flute and Britten's Young Person's Guide to the Orchestra complete with demonstrations and narration by Carey Shinbaum.  It's a wonderful way to introduce young people to the instruments and music of a symphony.

Gregory Vajda says, "As a way of showing off the tone colors and capacities of the various sections of the orchestra, The Young Person's Guide to the Orchestra is both friendly and energetic.  Originally commissioned for an educational documentary, it is one of the best known pieces by composer Benjamin Britton."

There is no admission cost for the concerts. Transportation is the responsibility of the schools.

Registration deadline is Monday, Nov 12, 2012.
