Beethoven’s Symphony No. 5 gives itself away with opening notes that are recognized the world over, and Prokofiev said that he intended his Fifth Symphony to be “a hymn to free and happy Man, to his mighty powers, his pure and noble spirit.” A fitting and wonderful end to a rich season, full of personality!
Meet Gregory Vajda
Born in Budapest, the son of renowned soprano Veronika Kincses, Gregory studied clarinet and conducting at the Franz Liszt Academy of Music. Hailed as a “young titan” by the Montreal Gazette after conducting the Montreal Symphony, Gregory completed his tenure as Assistant Conductor of the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra in 2005.
