The entire first section of this evening’s concert will be performed by the Amadinda Percussion Group, one of the top three percussion ensembles in the world. The Amadinda Percussion Group will join the HSO for the second half of the program contrasting a U.S. premiere by Gyöngyösi, Sinfonia concertante, with a piece from an old master, Bach.
Meet Gregory Vajda
Born in Budapest, the son of renowned soprano Veronika Kincses, Gregory studied clarinet and conducting at the Franz Liszt Academy of Music. Hailed as a “young titan” by the Montreal Gazette after conducting the Montreal Symphony, Gregory completed his tenure as Assistant Conductor of the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra in 2005.
