The Classical Series features six powerful evenings, each with something familiar and something new. The HSO takes this concert series to new levels of artistry and excitement. New in 2009-2010, the Casual Classics Series is a Sunday afternoon series featuring three wonderful afternoons of escape, with guest artists and conductors who are sure to enchant. A little more casual, a little more contemporary—the Pops Series offers finger-snapping tunes and familiar themes to help escape the everyday! ![]() Frog Fact The frog is the part of the bow that holds and adjusts the horsehair. Rectangular in shape, it is made of ebony, horn or other materials. "Play at the frog" means to draw the bow across the strings from the lower part of the bow, producing a stronger sound as a result of the weight of the hand and arm. The Italian word for this part of the bow is "tallone" (heel). The German word is "frosch" (frog). Why is it called a frog? No one is sure.
